Fire NES is an extremely interesting new release, which is made by Japanese company, Nintendo. The reason why I am so excited about this is because it allows me to play online free, and download a variety of old and new games from a variety of sources. In fact, what I found out about this software is that it has a free "trial", or demo version, available on their website. I was pleasantly surprised to find this, because it was one of the reasons why I did not go ahead and get Fire NES.
Fire NES is made by vSNES, the same group who developed the popular emulator for the PC, which emulates many different systems and is used for a variety of different computer applications. FireNes is made using the vSNES emulator, which means that it will be an enjoyable surprise for people who already love the original games of the Super Mario franchise, and other old games of Super Nintendo, such as Tetris, Super Monkey, Sims, etc. Another cool feature that is provided is the ability to use Fire NES in order to play classic, traditional Nintendo console games, which is a unique feature that a lot of people appreciate about the application.
Fire NES emulates all the features of the original SNES hardware, including a traditional 2D Gamepad, shoulder buttons, face buttons, control keys, triggers, a D Pad, a shoulder strap, a button pad, a clock, eight extra buttons, two joy sticks, a zipper control, a boot menu and various additional hardware components that will allow you to expand your memory card and run at higher speeds. Because it runs on the vSNES chip inside the Nintendo Famicom, Fire NES can be used to emulate many classic, older Nintendo games. However, with the newer consoles that utilize the latest chip sets from Nintendo, you will most likely not be able to run Fire NES on these devices because they do not have support for the vSNES hardware. In order to use Fire NES on newer consoles you must use an emulator that has been designed specifically for the newer consoles, such as the Nintendo Wii.
